He brings 15 years of experience from the nation’s two largest mortgage lenders, where he played a pivotal role in driving growth and expanding access to homeownership. As the first Spanish-speaking mortgage professional at one of these institutions, Goertzen identified a critical gap in loan officer education for Hispanic and Latino borrowers—a gap that directly impacted their ability to secure home financing.

Determined to bridge this divide, he founded and bootstrapped the Hispanic Organization of Mortgage Experts (HOME) in 2024, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering mortgage professionals with the knowledge, tools, and resources to better serve this growing market.
